Gutters cleared, resealed and running again
Overflowing gutters are the cheapest problem on a house to fix and the most expensive one to ignore, because the water ends up in the wall, the fascia and the footings. J&L clears, reseals, realigns and repairs guttering across east Surrey, usually in a morning, and tells you honestly when a gutter is past repairing.

Every gutter job, covered
Cleared, and the downpipes checked
Moss, leaves, tennis balls and the odd bird nest cleared out by hand from a ladder or a tower, and every downpipe rodded or flushed so the water actually gets away. Clearing a gutter into a blocked downpipe just moves the overflow along.
Leaking joints resealed
Unions and stop ends dry out and drip, usually onto the path by the front door. Old sealant is cleaned off and the joint resealed or the union replaced, which is a ten minute job that saves a fascia.
Sagging runs realigned
Brackets pull out of tired fascia and the gutter drops between them, so water pools and overflows mid run. New brackets fixed into sound timber and the run reset to a proper fall gets it draining again without replacing the whole thing.
An honest call on repair against replace
If a gutter is worth repairing it gets repaired. If the fascia behind the brackets is soft, or the cast iron is rusted through, we will say so and give you a written estimate for replacement alongside the repair, so you can choose with both figures in front of you.
Asked and answered
How often should gutters be cleared?
Once a year is about right for most houses, ideally in late autumn after the leaves have come down. Houses under big trees around Reigate, Dorking or Lingfield can need it twice. A gutter guard cuts it down but does not remove it, because moss and silt still get through.
Do you use ladders or a vacuum pole?
Mostly ladders and towers, because you cannot reseal a joint or refix a bracket from the ground. A pole system clears debris but it does not tell you why the gutter was overflowing, and half the time it was the joint or the fall rather than the leaves.
Can you clear gutters on a bungalow or a conservatory?
Yes, and they are often the worst, because they sit under bigger roofs and catch everything that comes off them. Conservatory box gutters against the house wall are a particular problem and are worth checking before every winter.
Is it worth fitting gutter guards or hedgehog brushes?
In some spots, under a big tree or where a gutter is genuinely hard to reach. Elsewhere they tend to hold moss on top of the gutter instead of in it, and they make the gutter harder to clear when it does block. We will tell you honestly whether yours would benefit.
How much does a gutter clear cost?
A straightforward clear on an ordinary house is a fixed price given over the phone. Repairs, resealing and realigning are priced after a look, and written down before we start, in line with everything else J&L does.
